Tuition Fees

Tuition fees for the Saint John School of Radiological Technology are negotiated yearly and are therefore subject to change; however tuition fees shall not exceed the yearly UNBSJ fee schedule as per the University of New Brunswick Undergraduate Calendar.

For the current academic year students must pay tuition in the amount of:

1st Year     Regular UNBSJ Tuition

2nd Year    Semester I                 $ 900.00

                  Semester II                $ 900.00

3rd Year     Semester I                 $ 900.00

                  Semester II       UNBSJ Tuition

 4th Year    Semester I         UNBSJ Tuition

                  Semester II                 $ 900.00

Students attend the University of New Brunswick for the first year of the Bachelor of Health Science program. Students also attend UNB Saint John for the winter semester of their third year and the fall semester of their fourth year.  Students attend the Saint John School of Radiological Technology for the entire second year of the Bachelor of Health Sciences program. Students also attend SJSRT for the fall semester of their third year and the winter semester of their fourth year.

All tuition fees are payable to UNBSJ.  Payments are made at the Business office, Oland Hall.

Income tax receipts are issued to students by the university each winter and can be accessed by students via theMy UNB e-Servicesportal from the UNBSJ home page.

The SJSRT orders textbooks at discounted institutional prices for the courses offered at the SJSRT.  These are a one-time purchase in the fall of the second year when students first arrive in the radiography program.  Students should budget approximately $1200.00 for radiography specific textbooks, and be prepared to make payment by the end of October. The cost of textbooks can fluctuate slightly from year to year according to current textbook prices and available discounts.

Textbooks associated with courses at UNBSJ can be purchased through the university bookstore as required. 

Student Professional Membership Fee

While a student at the SJSRT, students must be a student member of the New Brunswick Association of Medical Radiation Technologists.  The cost of Student Membership is currently a one-time fee of $100.00 and is payable during the first week of the program. In addition to membership with the professional body, this fee entitles students to access an online subscription to the Canadian Journal of Medical Radiation Technology (CJMRT) as well as the NBAMRT Newsletter.

National Certification Exam Fee

Graduates of the BHS in Radiography program must successfully complete the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists certification exams to enable them to work.  The deadline for application and payment of the exam fee is in February of the student's graduating year. The CAMRT Certification Exam fee is currently set at $800 and is subject to change.Note that application for certification must not be made prior to the graduating year.


Students attending the Saint John School of Radiological Technology are required to be immunized against the following:

  • Tetanus Diphtheria & Pertussis
  • Measles/Mumps/Rubella (German measles)
  • Varicella (Chicken Pox)
  • Tuberculosis
  • Hepatitis B

These immunizations must be current and therefore boosted if necessary. Most immunizations and boosters are available for students on site at the Saint John Regional Hospital or through their own family physician. Hepatitis B vaccinations can be arranged through the Saint John School of Radiological Technology or through UNBSJ. The fee to obtain Hepatitis B vaccinations if required is approximately $50.00 but does vary depending on the institution where the vaccination is being done.

Outreach Program

Students are required to participate in a one week long Outreach Experience during their final year in the program whereby they engage in clinical practice at a Diagnostic Imaging facility within the Horizon Health Network of the students choice. During the one week compulsory Outreach Experience students are responsible for their own travel, accommodations and living expenses.

Additional Fees

Fees for parking, uniforms, meals, and accommodations are variable and student dependent. Should it become necessary at any time for the school to utilize other clinical sites for clinical placement purposes the onus will be on the student to cover any additional costs related to travel, accommodations and other general living expenses.
