Stan Cassidy Foundation Recieves $20,000 from President's Choice Children's Charity

Donation supports the Charity's vision of improving the lives of children across Canada
Fredericton, December 1, 2011 - President's Choice® Children's Charity is pleased to announce a $20,000 donation to the Stan Cassidy Foundation. These funds will be used to launch the Foundation's "Bikes 'n' Trikes for Kids 'n' Tykes" program, providing adapted bicycles and tricycles to the Stan Cassidy Centre's paediatric patients as an integral part of their ongoing rehabilitation program.

"President's Choice ® Children's Charity has been delighted to assist children and families in the Atlantic region through individual grants since 2004," said Peggy Hornell, Senior Director, President's Choice® Children's Charity. "With the current donation to the Stan Cassidy Foundation, we hope to reach many more children from New Brunswick and across the Maritimes, with the aim of providing these young people with a renewed sense of dignity and independence in their daily lives."

President's Choice®Children's Charity is dedicated to helping children who are physically or developmentally challenged. Families can receive individual grants of up to $20,000 to assist with the costs of equipment, home accessibility, respite care, developmental and physical therapy and accessible vehicles. About the Stan Cassidy Foundation and the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation The Stan Cassidy Foundation is a registered charity that provides funds and resources to the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation and its staff. The foundation's focus is on patient care through direct patient support, and by enhancing the facility and rehabilitation services. The Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation is a recognized North American leader in neurological rehabilitation. The Stan Cassidy Centre provides treatment for complex autism spectrum disorder, spinal cord injury, complex stroke, acquired brain injury, and various neurological diseases such as muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy and spina bifida. The interdisciplinary team approach at the Stan Cassidy Centre ensures that all aspects of a patient's needs are addressed. Medical and therapeutic disciplines collaborate daily to provide client- and family-centred treatment programs. Specialized devices are constantly being designed and manufactured on-site to meet individual patient's needs.

The Centre is home to the only paediatric rehabilitation wing in the Maritimes.
