Biography - Siobhan Laskey

Hold two degrees from the University of New Brunswick - one in History and one in Education.   While having been employed for many years in administrative support and education, she values her volunteer activity as some of her most important work.   Volunteer activities have included serving for two years as a Patient Experience Advisor, tutoring, conference convenor, Guiding, and coaching.   She has held positions with the Provincial Home and School Association, the IWK Telethon (NB) Committee, Gagetown Rotary Community Academic Services Program, St. Michael's Youth Conference, Council for Sustainable Community Development and throughout the governance structure of the Anglican Church.   She has a keen interest in using her experience and convictions to benefit and enrich the lives of those involved in the provision and reception of health care services.

Siobhan and her husband, Fr. Gerry Laskey, have had four children and have resided in a number of New Brunswick communities, currently in Blackville.   They both have a deep interest in issues involving the health care community especially as it pertains to the provision of quality patient and family centered care.  In part, this commitment to the patient and family centered care grew from their experience as parents of a critically ill child who was cared for at the OPH, DECH and the IWK; as the children of parents who have received end-of-life care in NB facilities; and from their own experiences as patients at a number of NB hospitals and health care centres.  Most recently, Siobhan has traveled the journey of a cancer patient.
