Horizon asks patients to rate their hospital experiences

(HORIZON) January 14, 2016 - Horizon Health Network is asking patients to rate their hospital experiences by completing the fourth bi-annual Hospital Experiences Survey. From January 18, 2016 to February 28, 2016, all mental health and rehabilitation patients over the age of 18, as well as pediatric patients who have spent at least one night in hospital will be provided a paper- based survey upon discharge. Pediatric patient surveys can be completed by a parent or guardian.

In an on-going effort to improve and focus on patient and family centred care, Horizon relies on the opinions of patients to ensure it provides quality care. The results help Horizon strive towards its vision of Exceptional Care, Every Person, Every Day.

The Hospital Experiences Survey focuses on areas such as wait time, food quality, cleanliness, clarity of instructions/explanations, language of choice, and staff courtesy and professionalism. Results from the most recent survey conducted in May 2015 continue to show improvements over the benchmarks made in the 2013 New Brunswick Health Council (NBHC) survey in 12 of 13 patient care dimensions

The survey can be left with staff or mailed using the supplied pre-paid envelope. All completed surveys must be returned by March 11, 2016. Patients' family members or care providers can help with the questionnaire.

For more information on the survey, visit Horizon's website.
