National Drug Drop-Off Day Program Offered in Saint John

(Saint John) May 12, 2016 -  A Drug Drop-Off Program is being offered to Saint John area residents on Saturday, May 14 in recognition of National Prescription Drug Drop-Off Day. The program offers a safe, simple and anonymous means of discarding unwanted and unused medications into the hands of authorized personnel.

The Drug Drop-Off will take place on Saturday, May 14 at Harbour Station parking lot from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Those participating in the program will also have their name entered for a chance to win tickets to the sold out James Taylor concert.

The free program is equipped to handle prescription medication, over-the-counter medications, liquid medications, ointments, lotions, sprays, vitamins, patches and pet medications.

The proper disposal of medications helps decrease prescription drug abuse, prevents accidental poisoning and overdoses and helps to reduce the environmental issues caused by improper medication disposal.

To obtain additional information about this program, please call the St. Joseph's Community Health Centre (506) 632-5537.

The Drug Drop-Off Program is a partnership between the Saint John City Police Force, Drug Abuse Resistance Education, Neighbourhood Police Council and Government New Brunswick.
