Horizon hosting national Patient and Family Centred Care Conference

(Moncton) November 4, 2016 -Over 220 health professionals from across the country will be attending Horizon's first national Patient and Family Centred Care Experience Conference in Moncton next week. The conference is an opportunity to learn and share best practices for improving patient experiences. It will take place November 7 and 8 at the Delta Beauséjour.

"We are committed to delivering an exceptional patient and family centred care environment in every facet of our work, which is why we are proud to host our first national conference on that subject," said John McGarry, President and CEO of Horizon Health Network. "I look forward to welcoming our colleagues from across the country and providing the platform for sharing fresh ideas across our respective disciplines."

Experience Conference will bring together health-care providers, educators, researchers, and policy makers to share their knowledge and enhance their skills in patient and family centred care, quality and patient safety, and patient engagement. The two-day conference will include presentations from international, national and regional leaders in those fields.

Keynote speaker Sir Liam Donaldson will address participants on day one of the conference with a presentation on Safer Care: A 21st-Century Imperative. Donaldson is a recognized international champion of patient safety and public health.

The agenda also includes a line-up of 8 leaders dedicated to patient and family centered care, including: Dr. Ward Flemons, Medical Director, Health System Improvement for the Health Quality Council of Alberta and Liz Crocker, vice-chair and board member of the Institute for Patient and Family Centered Care.

"Patients and their families are at the centre of everything that we do," said Margaret Melanson, Vice President, Quality and Patient Centered Care. "With input from our patients, Horizon is making strides in the quality of care we provide. Now we are very excited to engage with other health-care professionals and discuss the ongoing improvements in the practice of patient and family centered care."
