Fitness program for seniors begins March 7 at Sackville Memorial Hospital

(Sackville, NB) February 17, 2017 -- The Sackville Memorial Hospital physiotherapy department, in conjunction with the Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation, will launch a free-of-charge, community-based exercise program for older adults on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.

Titled the Fit, Fun and Fabulous Seniors Group, the classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 2 p.m. and 2 to 3 p.m., and limited to eight participants.

The program will consist of eight-week blocks of classes that will include exercises and an education component. The goal is to help community members improve their fitness levels and learn skills so they can maintain and/or improve their health using resources in the community.

Ideal participants are older adults from the area who are looking to improve their fitness levels, strength and balance, and those who are physically able to participate in the class twice a week for an eight-week period.

Interested persons are asked to contact the physiotherapy department or their family physician at Sackville Memorial Hospital. For more information or to register, call 506-364-4111.
