Ask Me Anything

What are the current sexual health education practices and needs of parents, step parents, and guardians in New Brunswick?

Nancy Gesner
Registered Nurse
Saint John Public Health

New Brunswick (NB) youth have a high frequency of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unplanned pregnancy. As well, children and youth under 18 account for 66% of all victims of sexual violations reported to police in NB. To inform the development and/or adaption of sexual health education resources for parents, stepparents and guardians in the province, the team helped Public Health conduct a survey on current knowledge, resources used, and needs in educating their children.
